Techno-fuck

My last entry mentioned the dismal lack of Internet access methods currently at my disposal.  Since then, a very good friend gifted me a Blackberry Curve, on which I instantly took out a trial Internet package - for all the serious, business related, Earth-shatteringly important, eerrrm, ahhh... who am I trying to kid - for free porn right to my phone. But, as a side benefit to the porn, I was also given the option to blog and email from the phone as well. After a week of being on-line constantly, I decided to opt out: do I REALLY want to be able to fiddle-fuck away entire days on the net from wherever I happen to be? No. No I don't. Why? Well, because I think we are becoming too dependent on out tec, relying on it for almost everything, allowing it to serve as our memory, our primary means of interpersonal interaction and more. Here's an example: I went to a payphone to call a buddy; dropped my quarter in, dialed, and got totally pissed when it didn't start ringing. Problem: I had dialed "3", just like I always do from my cell. See? And I've done that more than once. No, I'll just go on line when I need to, from the usual places rather than constantly from everywhere - just don't need the techno-fuck.

As always, be safe.
